FMG - FORTESCUE METALS - down 13 cents, or 2.5 per cent, at $5.06

Shares in the iron ore miner lost ground on Thursday after the Federal Court recognised a native title claim over Pilbara land where the company operates the Solomon iron ore mine and a lower iron ore price pushed the stock lower on Friday.

Major banks have retreated as profit takers count their winnings after a rally on the back of the release of softer-than-expected new capital requirements by the prudential regulator on Wednesday.
