Stocks making moves or news on the ASX at the close on Thursday, August 23:

QAN - Qantas - down 19 cents, or 2.8 per cent, to $6.53

The airline reported full-year net profit rose 15 per cent to $980 million, but has warned of a sharp increase in its fuel bill in 2018/19.

STO - Santos - up 71 cents, or 11.3 per cent, to $6.98

The oil and gas producer has swung to a first-half profit and revived its dividend, a day after agreeing to buy Quadrant Energy for at least $US2.15 billion ($A2.92 billion).

SSG - Shaver Shop - down 12.5 cents, or 21.7 per cent, to 45 cents

Shavers Shop suffered a 27 per cent drop in the full-year profit and a 3.4 per cent drop in like-for-like sales.

MPL - Medibank Private - down 2 cents, or 0.6 per cent, to $3.17

AHG - Automotive Holdings - down 2 cents, or 0.8 per cent, to $2.39

Medibank and Automotive Holdings are reporting results on Friday, August 24.
