Banking stocks in the US fell overnight after JPMorgan Chase and Citibank beat profit and revenue estimates, but reported a drop in trading revenue.

NCM - NEWCREST MINING - up 6.0 cents, or 0.3 per cent, at $21.86

The price of gold edged to a more than two-week high overnight.

Oil prices are lower after a larger-than-expected decline in US inventories and a falloff in weekly production.
