Ramsay Health profit, dividend gets boost

Ramsay Health Care has bolstered its dividend after the country's largest private hospital operator reported a 40.5 per cent jump in profit from its global businesses.

The company said its full-year net profit totalled $545.5 million compared with the previous year's $388.3 million, revenue for the 12 months to June 30 was up 24.4 per cent to $11.4 billion and it increased its fully franked final dividend by five cents to 91.5 cents.

Ramsay managing director Craig McNally said its Australian business had had a notable increase in the number of patients treated "in some specialty areas like cardiac services, cancer care and mental health" during the financial year.
