Nick Scali profit up despite sliding sales

Nick Scali has posted a 2.8 per cent increase in full-year profit but the furniture retailer warns its sales numbers have taken a hit in recent months.

Revenue for the year to June 30 increased by 6.9 per cent to $268 million as net profit reached $42.1 million and the board announced a fully franked final dividend of 20 cents, down from 24 cents in the previous corresponding period.

"Same store sales were flat for most of the year with a decline in the fourth quarter. This trend has continued into the new financial year and July same-store sales growth remained negative," the company said in a statement on Thursday.
