Habitat for Humanity: Sri Lanka Build 2018

In mid-November 2018, a team from Morgans embarked on a journey to Batticaloa on the east coast of Sri Lanka to volunteer with Habitat for Humanity Australia (together with Habitat for Humanity Sri Lanka). The team worked with a village of rice farmers that had been displaced during the civil war that ended in 2009, leaving many families within the community without a home.

Over the course of the week the team assisted with the construction of three houses, mainly mixing concrete and laying floors. At each house the whole community would come to see the Aussie volunteers.

The experience was incredibly eye-opening for all and the whole team have come back appreciating the lives they have back here in Australia. A huge thank you to everyone for working incredibly hard and to the Morgans Foundation for their support.

The team raised just under $50,000.
